1000M Wins “AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE AWARD” Top Architectural Honor

73-Story Luxury tower Recently Completed Initial Lease-Up in Record Time

Chicago, IL – November 7, 2025 – Time Equities, Inc. (TEI) today announced that 1000M was recently named a winner of the American Architecture Award. The award recognizes the best new architecture in the United States, highlighting projects that elevate civic life, contribute meaningfully to urban context, and represent the highest level of design.

1000M is a new 73-story ultra-luxury rental tower located on iconic Michigan Avenue directly across from Grant Park and the Museum Campus in downtown Chicago. The project features 738 apartments as well as 80,000 SF of luxe community spaces (including the highest residential observation deck in the city located on level 73).

The tower was designed by the late, luminary German architect Helmut Jahn and his company, Jahn/ – which remains the architectural firm of record for the development. 1000M represents Jahn’s first American Architecture Award for a residential tower, which marks an important milestone for the firm. The interiors for the project were completed by Kara Mann Design.

1000M has received numerous other awards since opening in May of 2024. These awards include the CoStar Impact Award for Development of the Year, the Chicago Commercial Real Estate Award for Multifamily Development of the Year and the Gold Winner at the Global Future Design Awards 2025. These honors collectively underscore 1000M’s excellence in design, development, sustainability and marketability.

In addition to garnering various industry awards and recognition, 1000M has also experienced remarkable commercial success in Chicago’s competitive downtown apartment leasing market. The 738-unit tower is now 95% leased. This milestone comes approximately 18 months after officially opening in May 2024.

“We are thrilled with the market’s response to 1000M,” said James Shortenhaus, General Manager for 1000M. “The project amenities and the unobstructed views of Lake Michigan are unlike anything we’ve ever seen. Within the residences, people especially love the smart layouts, oversized closets, and built-in desks. The lease up pace we have achieved reflects the sustained demand for design-driven living and the strength of the Downtown market.”
